The study attempts to present the role which the South Caucasus region played in the difficult interweaving of diplomacy and trade in the 15th-18th centuries, to study and present the trade interest of European states, and to show how trade facilitated diplomacy․ The choice of chronological frames is not a coincidence, and they include the period from the 15th to 18th centuries, that is from the moment of European states' interest in both Iran and the South Caucasus region, and, respectively, until the Russian domination in the region in the early 19th century.
